Established for 35 years in the South London and Surrey areas of the UK, the Conor Academy of Irish Dancing, which is independently run by former World Champion Dancer, Bridie Willis, TCRG, and is registered with "An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha" (The Irish Dancing Commission) the governing body situated in Dublin and which is supported by local councils throughout the world.
Pupils from 5 years old are taught and coached from beginner status through to championship standard in preparation for national feisanna (competitions) performing traditional solo reels, hornpipes and jigs as well as team dancing.
The academy's aims are to provide a happy, friendly and disciplined environment in which pupils will enjoy learning and be inspired to achieve results of the highest possible standards. We are a small school (in Irish Dancing terms) and where class sizes are intentionally kept to a strict maximum of 20 but where the emphasis is on learning and enjoying dance steps - our Motto is "enjoy your dancing - winning is a bonus". We do however have our fair share of success, and have provided many displays and exhibitions of traditional irish dancing - and have performed at many special events over the years.
